The majority of flights to the Caribbean depart from either London Heathrow or London Gatwick. Some direct services fly from Manchester although these are not daily so be flexible with your flying dates if at all possible. Many indirect options are available connecting through the Eastern US or through European hubs like Amsterdam or Paris. The cheapest deals are available outside of school holidays. If you are travelling with kids when the schools break up then our advice is book early. Christmas is another busy time for booking especially to Montego Bay, Kingston and Trinidad. Airlines that fly to the Caribbean

The main two airlines flying to the Caribbean from the UK and Virgin Atlantic and British Airways. You can fly indirect with KLM, Air France, Iberia and US carriers such as American, Delta and United. The shortest flight to the Caribbean is usually from London to Barbados although flight times to other islands are similar.

There are also services direct from London to smaller Caribbean Islands. Look out for BA flights to the Turks & Caicos and the Cayman Islands. Whilst flights to the larger Caribbean holiday destinations are direct and daily, flights to other islands are more infrequent. Flights to Grenada and Tobago fall into this category and you may find the plane will stop first on another Caribbean island.

Flights to the Bahamas

Flights to the Dominican Republic

The main airport for the Dominican Republic is Punta Cana. British Airways fly direct there from London. Depending on where you are staying it may be more cost efficient to fly indirect to one of the other three main airports in the Dom Rep - Puerto Plata (POP), La Romana (LRM) or Santo Domingo (SDQ).

Flight to St Kitts

The best way to fly to St Kitts and Nevis (SKB) is with British Airways. A service departs from London and whilst it stops over in Antigua this route is the most direct service. Flights are only on certain days of the week so be flexible with your travel dates. You can fly indirect and most connections go through New York or another Caribbean island (e.g. Barbados).

Flight to Curacao

You cannot fly direct to Curacao from the UK. The island has historic Dutch connections so so the best way to fly to Hato International Airport is to go via Amsterdam with KLM. This makes Curacao ideal for Caribbean holiday from a UK regional airport. KLM fly from most parts of the UK and The Flights guru can connect you with the best flights.

Flights to Virgin Islands

To get to the Virgin Islands you will have to connect via a US airport or larger Caribbean Island. The US Virgin Islands have two main airports - St Thomas (STT) and St Croix (STX) which are served by Delta and American Airlines. The British Virgin Islands are served by one main airport for Tortola (EIS) which is based on nearby Beef Island.

Flights to Guadeloupe

Connecting through Paris with Air France is the best way to fly to Guadeloupe (PTP). Air France has good connections to the large regional airports so consider a good option if flying from Birmingham, Manchester or Scotland.

Flights to St Maarten

Flights to St Martin (SXM) are not direct from London. The best connections are with American carriers through the East Coast hub airports such as New York.
